Fog Island Giveaway

I'll be putting part two of my Tomi Ungerer interview up on the blog later today, but I wanted to also mention that I have a copy of Tomi's latest for children, Fog Island, to giveaway to one lucky reader. All you have to do to be entered to win is comment on this post before midnight CT on Sunday, July 7. A winner will be randomly selected and announced the following morning.

The book received a starred review in Publishers Weekly"Any new book from Ungerer is cause for celebration, and this one offers a particularly enticing blend of mystery and magic. . .It's the kind of classic adventure that allows children to triumph over convention and common sense, threaded with peculiar imagery and unknowable mysteries that linger in the imagination."

I'll second that... Good luck kids and have a fabulous Tuesday!

I AM PAPA SNAP was the book that showed me how delightfully weird Ungerer could be, but I consider TORTONI TREMOLO to be his masterpiece of ridiculousness.

Thanks for the giveaway!

Ungerer has to be the greatest living picture book artist today (since Sendak's passing.) Thank you for another fascinating interview with the man!

Heard Tomi on Fresh Air last evening and read part one of your interview. Would love to have a copy of Fog Island. The Beast of Monsieur Racine has always been a favorite of mine.

Thanks for yet another great recommendation! I've been mezmerized by your blog since I fortuitously stumbled upon it a few months ago, and am recommending it to all my mama friends. I'm sure my baby boy would enjoy "Fog Island." If I don't happen to win it, I'll have to dig it up at our local library.

Hi Burgin, I'd be thrilled to win Fog Island! I'm a fellow illustrator and Tomi fan -- was just singing his praises on Sergio Ruzzier's blog, in my top picture books list: http://www.ruzzier.com/melissa-guions-picture-book-list/

It's wonderful that you got to interview him. Really jealous, and really enjoying your interview.

Best wishes,
Melissa

I'm enjoying these interviews on your blog. I had the pleasure of seeing an exhibition of Tomi Ungerer at The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst, Massachusetts in the summer of 2011 and now it is a pleasure to read his thoughts on his approach and influences.
