Sugar Dog

Hi all... I had really planned on blasting this week out with Mercer Mayer stuff, and alas... I found out my sweet Sugar dog of nine years has all sorts of woes, not the least of which being cancer. I've spent the week in and out of the vet and am now nursing a very groggy 85 pound golden retriever with a rather nasty 12 inch incision on his hind. Not to mention I thought watching Being Elmo would make me feel better, only to spend the better part of two hours crying my eyes out.

Not a good day.

That said, I plan on snuggling in with the boy tonight to finish reading him A Bear Called Paddington (which just happens to be one of the most fun read-alouds of all time). Tomorrow, barring any further medical disasters, I promise to return with the final part of my Mercer interview. Then, I'm off to the Pacific Northwest next week to deal with another family matter, so I'll be taking a few days off.

Whew. Life does get in the way sometimes.

  2. Oh, I'm so sorry about Sugar. I hope life goes easy on you both this week.

Paddington and Pooh--two of our favorite reads here, too.

  4. Sorry to hear about your dog! I lost my childhood dog to cancer, so I know how gut-wrenching treatment can be on a family. I hope Sugar gets better soon!

  5. I am so sorry to hear that your Sugar dog isn't doing so well. Having a sick pet is just horrible, I know:( Sending you both best wishes for brighter days soon ahead.

  6. I am so sorry to hear about Sugar's health. I hope you spend a lovely weekend snuggled in and reading together... and he's a lucky pup to have someone to make him feel as comfortable and as loved as you do.

  8. Poor, poor Sugar. And poor you as you are the one who's worrying. I have a dog who looks just like Sugar (a 5 year old Golden) right down to that gorgeous smiling face and whose name, coincidentally, is Paddington.

Get better very soon Sugar and hope time with Paddington Bear and several marmalade sandwiches makes you feel better too.
