Eleven and Three Are Poetry

Eleven and Three are Poetry
Kelly Oechesli ~ compiled by Sally Nohelty
Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1964

Whew. What a week. Nothing settles the nerves and the over-partied mind like a wee bit of poetry. I'm so behind on my life that it's nice to have a moment of rhyme and reason to relax and sort things out.

There was an Old Man with a beard,
Who said, "It is just as I feared!
Two Owls and a Hen,
Four Larks and a Wren
Have all built their nests in my beard!"

~ Edward Lear

They all climbed up on a high-board fence--
Nine little goblins with green glass eyes--
Nine little goblins that had no sense,
And couldn't tell coppers from cold mince pies;
They all climbed up on the fence, and sat,
And I asked them what they were staring at.

~ James Whitcomb Riley

  1. No problem about the book. Gotta say, I'm loving browsing your archives. I don't know how many books I've snagged because I remembered seeing them in your "stacks."
