Great Monday Give: Corduroy

The Great Monday Give this week will be two-fold. Getting us back into the habit of weekly gives, and as an introduction to our posts this week by Don Freeman's son Roy. For those of you just getting here, the Give serves as a way for me to share the wealth and pass along great books I've found for a song on my thrift journeys. They are my little gifts to you for reading. So, I have a few copies of the wonderful Corduroy (Don Freeman's most beloved character) in paperback that I will be passing along to some lucky readers next week. All you have to do to be entered to win is comment on this post between now and midnight - Sunday ~ August Nine. I will randomly pick a winner and announce it the next day.

As for my Twitter contest of last week to win a $25 shopping spree in the Etsy shop? The winner is Lauren at Shooting Star Magazine, who is coincidentally having her own two-year celebration. Congrats and shoot (haha) me an e-mail to webe(at)soon(dot)com. I'm sure I'll be tweeting it as well.

So without further on and on, have a great day and check back later for our first installment of Roy Freeman's ode to his father.

Hello,

This is my first comment on your blog. In fact, I have just found your blog very recently and I was thrilled with all the wonderful books you talked about here. I could hardly work as I kept coming back to see what you had in the old posts.

Thanks for your sharing, I'm glad I found this blog!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the lovely Corduroy too!

I just discovered your blog, and so happy about it. I have a four old girl and I'm obsessed with buying her books with beautiful classical illustrations.

I usually never win in contests, but I may have a chance here this time? ;) Thanks.

Oh man, this was one of my favorite books as a kid, but I had completely lost the memory of it until seeing your post. Thank you. I'm really glad this one has stayed in print.

Corduroy is such a lovely book - I remember reading it years ago.

I hope I am considered though far away in Australia.

I should send you some info' on some classic Australian childrens books.

Thank you for this Blog, it brings back memories and has prompted me to hunt down far more books than I should for my 2 year old :)

Really enjoying the posts by Ron Freeman about his father. I remember loving the story of Corduroy so much when I was little, and these posts reminded me of it. Would love to have a copy in my hands again to read to little ones. Thank you!

Corduroy is a true classic children's book. I would really love to have this book to share with my grandson during our reading time. It would bring back the memories of when I read to my daughter, his mother. I really need to remember those happier days now.

thank you,

Christine
