Great Monday Give: Make Way for Ducklings

Hey everybody... The Great Monday Give has arrived once again. As you may or may not know, Monday is the day I give away an awesome vintage kids' book I've picked up in my travels. That said, this week's giveaway is a rather nice, over sized, used, but really really great, ex-library, hard copy of Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey. This is one of our faves, and it's a really sweet copy to boot. All you have to do to be entered to win is comment on this post before midnight ~ Sunday, June 29th. The winner will be announced on Monday, and so on and so on.

Moving on... the winner of last week's Give is gina bina who will be taking home a totally killer copy of Caps for Sale.

GB, please e-mail me your info at webe@soon.com as quick as you please, and I will get it out to you as fast as I can via the slow boat to China.

Stay tuned later in the day for another review, and until then...

Oh yea, and be sure to check out my "guest mom" posts all this week on Design Mom.... which is a totally awesome blog run by - quite possibly - the coolest mom in Manhattan.

Oh, how I love children's books! Please enter me in your giveaway! What a classic. I found your blog via Design Mom. I even post about children's books occasionally although that's not what our blog is about. :) I'm about to become a loyal reader. Thanks!

i took a children's lit class this past semester. we had to read and memorize author, title, illustrator, storyline, aesthetics, etc.

this was by far my favorite book on the list. simple illustration, black and white, great text. lovely book. i'd love to have my own copy.

thanks.

Just found your blog from Design Mom and I'm glad I did! My kids and I love to read and I agree that stories I liked as a kid are so fun to pass on. I'll keep my fingers crossed for Make Way for Ducklings!

I found your blog a couple weeks ago (maybe it was through Design Mom, I love her blog). I think I spent an entire evening reading all your postings and then I bought a bunch of used childrens books online (and my baby isn't even due until October). I'm hooked! Make Way for Ducklings is definitely on my To Buy list, so I'd love to win this copy!

I just read months worth of your past posts, too. I feel like dropping everything today and going from thrift store to thrift store grabbing up vintage children's books. :) Thanks for the give-away!

Just found you via Design Mom. I love old children's books, but I'm also a germ-freak. Any suggestions on cleaning old books?

Just added you to Google Reader. And already grateful for the introduction to Clara and Asha!

I always wipe the covers down after purchase, but as for the insides, I don't think cooties have a long shelf life, so you should be good. :)

Can't wait to see what is in store on Design Mom, where I happened to see your writing this morning, and of course here on your own site. Thanks for writing about all the oldies/goodies.

I'm so glad you're guest blogging at Design Mom (I clicked over from there). I LOVE reading and books in general (which is why I got my master's in lit!). When my husband and I got married he kept suggesting that I just check things out from the library rather than buying--fortunately he's come around since then. :-) But since he's still in grad school, I'm scouring garage sales and thrift stores to fill our bookcases these days and keep my two little girls in fresh reading material. I love the fact that you've dedicated a blog to this--wonderful! I will be checking back regularly!

Love this book. I'll cross my fingers.

I just purchased Broderick and There's a Hippo in my Bath. My little boy and I love them. Thanks so much for your great posts.

In search of a new childrens book to base one of my creatures on I came across your blog ! Wow ! Thanks so much for blogging about all these wonderful books. It makes my head spin because I get so many ideas and I just love looking at the illustrations.
I wonder if the lucky ducky at my blog was one of Mrs. Mallard's descendants ;-)

Have a nosey day,

We won the Scholastic DVD with Make Way for Ducklings and several other Robert McCloskey books on another blog. My daughter loves the stories, but we don't watch DVDs very often. So I'd love to win the book!
